In 2005, Jordana visited areas ravaged by Hurricane Katrina to help rescue animals in need. On her second trip down, she rescued three cats: Gemini, Ferdinand & Shadow. Several months later, Jordana became concerned about Gemini, the tortie, and decided to take her to the veterinarian. Unfortunately, Gemini was of a different opinion on the matter. After some racing around in her apartment, Jordana finally cornered Gemini, naively thinking that success was imminent…but she was mistaken. Gemini leaped over her, using her skull as a launching pad, and escaped into the bedroom and under the bed. As blood trickled down her forehead, it occurred to Jordana that she would have gladly paid someone to get Gemini into the carrier!
This occurred just before a six week sabbatical to Africa where she spent time reevaluating her life. When she returned in February 2007, she quit her job as a litigation attorney and started volunteering with a local rescue group focused on cats. As she became more involved with their foster and medical programs she was finding herself having to help the foster parents wrangle the cats for adoption events and medical appointments. So one day, when a vet office manager asked her to help a client who frequently cancelled because she couldn’t get her cats in their carriers, she remembered her own personal experience and Catch Your Cat was formed.
Throughout the years, she has worked with countless cats whether they be adopted or rescued and in need of a home. In October of 2019, Jordana began training Melissa Logan, a client turned business partner. Melissa was a perfect fit. She had animal handling experience as a dog walker and cat sitter, and was already an amateur cat rescuer. So when Jordana was unable to continue to wrangle the cats because of a medical condition, they joined forces and now Melissa does all of the wrangling and nail trimming and Jordana does some of the cat sitting and the consulting. Together, they are able to continue to provide these very needed services!
